OK, LET ME TRY TO EXPLAIN: For as long as I can remember I have been interested in vacant buildings, vernacular architecture, infrastructure, and other parts of the city that are generally overlooked. Around 2004 I started to record these parts of Chicago with an old Canon AE-1 that I barely knew how to operate.
To be honest, I’m still figuring out what it is I’m trying to do with all of this. Chasing after buildings that nobody cares about can be a ridiculous pastime. Taking photos and writing about it can seem even more absurd. Once I have figured out what this is all about, I’ll be sure to let you know.
