Westinghouse Sunset

I spent most of the day procrastinating, but finally out a sense of…I dunno, duty (or something) I tossed my camera gear in my bag, hopped on my bike and headed north on Homan.

I had already seen (almost too many) photos of the demolition work, so I wasn’t surprised to that much of the school had been torn down and the water tower was now standing by itself. Even so, actually seeing the site in person was unsettling. After wandering the grounds for a bit, I went into what was left of the main building and climbed the stairs.

I am usually uncomfortable poking around demolition sites in the dark, but sitting on the top floor by myself and watching the light fade behind the tower was actually quite peaceful. This being the first warmish night of the year didn’t hurt, either.

But soon I heard scrappers banging around the building, so I got the hell out.
